About

“My art is an exploration of wildlife photography, where each image is carefully processed to isolate the subject from its surroundings. Through this process, I seek to reveal the unique expressions, character, and presence of each animal in its natural habitat.”

Jason L Bishop

A Fine Art Wildlife Photographer

Jason L. Bishop is a fine art wildlife photographer whose work focuses on capturing the presence, character, and individuality of wildlife. Born in 1972 and primarily raised in Illinois, he began his photographic journey in 2011 as a self-taught artist, developing his craft through dedicated practice and exploration.

Background

Jason’s early work centered on event photography, where he spent several years refining technical skill, timing, and composition. While this period established a strong foundation, it ultimately led him toward a more personal artistic direction rooted in wildlife photography.
In 2021, Jason expanded his artistic perspective through an apprenticeship with a local artist, an experience that encouraged a more intentional and disciplined approach to his work.

Finding His Voice

Beginning in 2022, Jason committed fully to wildlife photography, traveling specifically to photograph animals in their natural environments. By 2023, he had developed a distinctive body of work characterized by intimate portrayals that emphasize expression, posture, and presence.
Each image is meticulously processed to isolate the subject from its surroundings, allowing the unique character of each animal to emerge without distraction.
